Overview
The SolidShip™ is a complete turnkey system designed for automatic shipping manifest systems. The system is complete with everything you need to fully automate your carton manifesting including conveyor control & application software, CASI-950 In-Motion Scale, barcode scanners, Printer Label Applicators, Installation and operator training. The result is a dependable, labor saving automatic labeling machine for UPS, FedEx, DHL and other common carriers.
System Operation
As cartons enter the manifesting system on the 24 volt zone accumulation conveyor, they stage in zones before the in motion scale. The guarantees a rapid and orderly process and insures that two cartons are never on the scale at the same time.
The zone immediately before the CASI-950 In Motion Scale inducts cartons onto the scale once the current carton fully exits the zone. A Data Logic fixed position barcode scanner reads the pick label applied earlier in the process identifying the carton for SolidShip™. This information is used to process the label based upon the information obtained by the system from the customers' Warehouse Management System (WMS).
As the carton exits the scale, the label data is prepared and sent to the Printer Label Applicator and the label is automatically applied to the carton. Barcode readability and label placement is ensured by using a fixed position scanner to read the carrier barcode.
An often unintended benefit of the in motion scale process to obtain weights for carton manifesting is that the system can perform a check weigh on the cartons using the check weigh feature embedded in the system.
Once the system is installed, the user is no longer forced to use multiple computer workstations for separate carriers. SolidShip™ interfaces seamlessly with rate shopping software packages such as Kewill Clippership®, ConnectShip, Ajillus, Pitney Bowes Ascent, Fedex Powership & others, allowing the user to keep important legacy applications. Designed as a single point of control for the manifesting process, the system keeps track of supply usage and alerts the user to low supply levels before downtime occurs.
